I do know that even NT young people are not left alone at ages when I had been left alone with regular frequency by my parents. At age 10, in the 4th grade, I used to ride the city bus home from school in the afternoon, and spend several hours by myself, in Moscow, and if I happened to be home sick, but not very seriously ill, I might be left alone for 8–10 hours. I now know parents who do not leave 12 year olds alone for more than one hour at a time, and do not leave children alone during the day (on a day off of school) until they are in high school.
